Residents invited to write a letter to their future selves – Things To Do in Dubai

Your letters, which can be in written format, video or images will be published on the official Year of the 50th website…

The UAE celebrates its 50th golden jubilee this year. As part of the massive celebrations, the UAE’s Golden Jubilee Committee has launched an initiative inviting UAE residents to write a letter to their future selves, mapping out their dreams and envisioning their future journey in the UAE.

Those who call the UAE home can submit their entries in a number of formats including a written, video or images. It can be submitted on the Year of the 50th website under ‘Letters to the Future’.

By writing these letters, the UAE public is encouraged to envision their future as key contributors and builders of the nation, for the next 50 years and beyond. 



You can choose to write down your letter in the text box here where it will then be put on the official letter carrying the Year of the 50th logo before going online. You can even print out the letterhead and handwrite your letter for a more personal touch.

If you are submitting an image, ensure it’s less than 3MB in size and likewise, videos need to be less than 10MB in size. Additionally, you can upload the image or the video to your own social media and share the URL.

Not sure what you want to say? The website offers up some tips calling on you to imagine where you see yourself in 10, 20 or even 50 years from now. It asks residents what their dream is in life, what is it that they want to achieve, what their hopes are for the nation and what they hope to contribute to making the UAE the best place for everyone.

When you submit your message, you will get an email with your letter and an option where you can pick when you wanted to be reminded of your letter – either 5, 10, 20 or 50 years. This will act as a time capsule of how you have evolved, how far you have come on your journey allowing you to reflect while also holding you accountable (But remember, it’s never too late to start.)

Fitness motivation can be hard to come by sometimes, so if you’re looking for a boost to get you back on the workout wagon, here’s something that might help.

The Den DXB is offering new members the chance to trial the fitness centre, with seven days of free classes (worth Dhs420) for every first timer throughout September. Both classes must be used within a seven day period, but you’re welcome to try as many different classes as you like in that week.

Classes at The Den DXB aim to combine the perfect mix of strength, movement, and cardiovascular training. Members can choose between lifting classes, which are each split into lower body, upper body, and full body; or ‘power’ conditioning based sessions.

All classes are 60 minute sessions, and the exercises can be modified for any fitness level. There’s a maximum number of spots available to ensure they can maintain a safe and effective training experience.

Lifting classes take place across the week on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays are for ‘Power’ or ‘The Den Throwdown’ classes.

After your free trial, a range of membership packages are available. Single classes are Dhs100, or you can buy in bulk to save money – the more classes you buy the cheaper each one becomes. An eight-class pack is Dhs680, a 10-class package is Dhs785, or you can buy an unlimited one-week pass for Dhs420.

An Expo 2020 store is now open at Dubai Airports’ Terminal 3 – Things To Do in Dubai

Now, you can get your Expo 2020 merchandise in advance if you’re taking that long-awaited vacation, as a cool Expo 2020 store is now open in Dubai Airports’ Terminal 3. The brightly coloured pop up store is stocking everything Expo 2020-themed, from mugs to keyring, T-shirts, bags and children’s toys.

You’ll find the official store at Dubai International Airport Departures T3 Concourse B East, where you can also find out lots of information on the upcoming exhibition.

The world’s first 22 karat gold vada pao has been created in Dubai – Things To Do in Dubai

If you haven’t tasted this humble dish before, you most certainly should try it now…

Hidden away in a spot in Al Karama, O’ Pao serves up an all-time popular Indian snack – Vada Pao.

Now, the Vada Pao is perfect just as it is, but this hidden gem has elevated the humble snack to a whole new level and has added a sprinkle of gold to it – 22 Karat gold to be exact.

For those of you who haven’t tasted this delicious Indian snack before, it is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra.

The ‘vada’ is a deep-fried potato dumpling placed in between a sliced bread bun called pao. Slathered inside the bread are chutneys and a green chilli (or two), for a spicy kick.

But the gold vada pao created here at O’Pao is a tad different, and not just because of the gold that covers the vada dumpling.

The vada, apart from the potato, is filled with cheese and imported French truffle butter. It is then covered in premium quality French imported 22 Karat golden leaves. And yes, it’s edible.

Slathered inside the pao is a homemade mint mayonnaise dip. Yum!

The vada pao is served in a mystical wooden carved box complete with nitrogen smoke for that cool ‘Gram photo. Your meal comes with a side of sweet potato fries and refreshing mint lemonade.

Head to Al Karama to try it yourself for Dhs99. It is located behind Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street.

Choose the page for the color that you want. Then simply fill in the highlighted form fields to fit each child and print! There is a place for your kiddo’s name, grade, age, what they want to be when they grow up, their school name and the date of their first day of school. This will make for a great comparison with their last day of school photo over the years!

It’s a sad day in the Dubai today, as we bring you the news that one of Dubai’s brilliant Italian restaurants is closing its doors. Il Faro has been a staple in Palm Jumeirah’s dining circuit for a number of years, thanks to its stellar ladies’ night and laid-back brunch.

The restaurant announced its departure on social media, along with the news that it will be dropping the price of some of its signature dishes and drinks.

“We sincerely thank you for your loyalty to Il Faro and, as a special token of our appreciation, we are delighted to offer a wide range of two-for-one deals on all antipasti, pizza and pasta dishes, and selected drinks at Dhs25, daily from Sunday, 29 August to Tuesday, 31 August… It has been our pleasure to serve you,” the post read.

Famed for its epic pizzas, Il Faro has launched a two for one offer for the next two days, so grab your bestie and make the most of the reduced prices.

Hi Remodelaholics! For those who don’t know me, my name is Michelle and I’m the editor of a creative lifestyle blog called Elegance & Enchantment and I also run a stationery/print shop called Enchanted Prints. Regular readers, you may remember some of the recent projects I’ve shared including these BBQ Invitations and the Art Prints I designed for #deckthewalls week.

While I’m sad that we will be saying goodbye to summer in the coming months, I’m excited to share some new printables that will make going back to school just a little more fun.

I’m all about documenting every moment and take entirely too many photos. Am I the only one who is constantly pushing the limits of their phone storage?

While I don’t have kiddos of my own, if I did, you better bet that the first day of school would turn into a full on photoshoot. Maybe it’s better that I don’t…my kitty cats already hate me for taking so many photos of them!

For those of you who do have kids heading back to school next month, and plan on getting snap happy with your camera, these signs will make the perfect addition to those first-day photos.

I’ve set you up with a set of 16 different printables, to cover everything from pre-school through 12th grade and homeschool, plus a reader suggested that the first day of school is the first day of freedom for parents, so I added that as well! Dubai is hosting a huge pop culture festival in March 2022 – Things To Do in Dubai

The five-day event will be the biggest eSports, comics and YouTubers’ festival in the region…

If you love to while away the hours in front of YouTube, head to the stores to add scope out comics to your collection or love to mash buttons on the latest sports game, this festival has your name all over it.

Dubai has announced that it will be hosting POPC Live! – a five-day pop culture event. The inaugural event will be held next year in March 2022.

The event will be organised by an entertainment company, Waverider and Galaxy Racer (GXR), a leading Dubai-based eSports organisation. It will showcase the city as a leading destination for culture, innovation and talent.

What can you expect at the event? 

The five day event will feature groundbreaking experiences and unique activities organised for the first time in the region.

According to the Dubai Media Office, some of the world’s most prominent celebrities will be at the event. Visitors can expect an expansive eSports Zone set up, tournaments featuring the biggest names in the gaming and entertainment industry, along with pop-culture panels, workshops, conferences and concerts.

Developers, publishers and eSports teams will excite gamers and eSport fans and visitors will also have the chance to network with international social media stars and industry leaders. PUBG Mobile, League of Legends and Dota2 tournaments will be held where top international teams will compete to win cash prizes.

The eSport Zone will also host several community tournaments as well as the GirlGamer World Finals.

For fans of comic cons, there will be an opportunity to meet and greet celebrities, check out Artists’ Alley and visit Cinema Club. At the exhibitor zone, there will be comic book houses, toy companies, film and TV brands and more.

On the main stage, visitors can watch a line-up of regional and international music acts combined with a host of interactive performances
