Snake Plant

Also known as mother-in-law’s tongue or sansevieria, the Snake plant is the easiest plant to take care of. Featuring tall, dark, thick, and waxy leaves, this succulent has no complaints and no demands. It doesn’t need much light, is drought-tolerant and can withstand (almost) any living conditions. In addition to being an ornamental plant, it is a powerful, NASA-approved air purifier.

Aloe Vera is a very popular choice for people looking for low maintenance plants. It needs very little water and prefers basking in bright, but indirect sunlight. Besides, it can adapt pretty well to any room decor. Also, it has tons of beauty and medicinal benefits. Furthermore, you can buy an aloe vera plant in Dubai both online and offline as it is easily available.

ZZ Plant

Officially called ‘the king of indestructible plants‘, ZZ is a beautiful plant that leaves people feeling awestruck with its luscious green leaves. It can tolerate low light, drought and low humidity as well. Even after months of neglect, you will find it looking healthy effortlessly.

Chinese Evergreen Plant

Chinese Evergreen, popularly known as the Silver Bay Aglaonema, has a kind and forgiving nature. It’s pretty to look at, quite sturdy and requires little to no effort to thrive and survive. It can tolerate poor light, dry air and drought-like conditions.

Air Plants (Tillandsia)

These hanging, ornamental plants brighten up your landscape while adding a pop of green. Their USP is that they can grow without soil, thus becoming the easiest and low maintenance plant. Just give them a nice mist once a week to keep them healthy and good-looking. Air plants are even the most purchased indoor plants online.

Lucky Bamboo Plant

An easy-to-care-for indoor plant that also makes a perfect housewarming gift! Just like Air Plants, Bamboo can also grow without soil or with just water. Just place the stalks in a glass pot full of water with pebbles lying at the bottom. If it grows big, just transfer it to a new one. Keep it away from the direct sun!

Ficus Bonsai Plant

There are tons of benefits of keeping a Bonsai plant at home. And if you want to take advantage of its benefits, but are new to the concept of Bonsai, go for Ficus Bonsai. It is a highly recommended Bonsai for beginners. Commonly known as the Weeping Fig, this indoor Bonsai tree can handle underwatering, endure low humidity and requires bright, indirect sunlight. Rest, it makes a remarkable centrepiece for the living room or study table.

All of the aforementioned are beginner-friendly, low-maintenance indoor plants that can forgive your occasional neglectedness. No green fingers or thumbs are required to keep them happy and alive!

Enter To Win The 2022 Garden & Home Blog Award by March 6th! — decor8 2022 Best Chandeliers And Home Lighting in Dubai, UAE - Homenoon

I’ve been part of the GHBA since they launched in 2017, so I know all of the lovely finalists from each year and value them so much. Each year, we also welcome new content creators into our group of finalists – it’s lovely to see the energy that surrounds this event and I’m happy to be included again for 2022! I’m hoping there will be a lot of new entries this year since I love to see how creative and innovative each of the entrants can be, but also to see new faces and names working alongside of the more established and experienced content creators here in Germany.

In September, two exciting days await our finalists in Cologne, because these days will be packed with creative workshops, inspiring discussions and a lot of time to exchange ideas on the topics around content creation, plants, DIY and interior (food is no longer a category, the team decided to really focus on DIY, plants and flowers, and interiors). The grand finale will be the dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday evening, which is where you’ll find me as I hand out an award for our interiors winner because, well, interiors are what I’m all about!

This year the format will be a little different so here’s some information on that in both English and German, below:

The awards will be part of the KREATIVZEIT (Creative Time) Festival. During this two-day festival, together with media partner HYGGE and the many brand partners, we invite all DIY fans – including your followers and all creative enthusiasts – to participate in the workshop program on September 3 or 4. The finalists of the Garden & Home Blog Awards will of course be there on September 3 where the award ceremony will then take place exclusively for our GHBA finalists and brand partners.

7+ Post Graduation Party Ideas for 2022 in UAE – Home Noon

Time really flies! It feels like just yesterday when we attended our kindergarten graduation. Fast forward 15 years, here we are graduating college. High school graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime event that deserves a celebration. This ending is the beginning of many new chapters. So whether you are the parent of a grad or the graduate yourself, here are some of the WOW post-graduation party ideas that you will be grad to implement.

It’s all in the Details – Stick to a Theme

If you are thinking the term graduation in itself is a theme, you need to get your creative juices flowing. Decide upon a unique theme and play around with it. Make sure the party is less formal and more fun. All your accessories and decor – graduation cap balloons, graduation cap straws, school-themed balloons – should revolve around the theme.

Dance Party

Good music and good dance is the ultimate way for everyone to feel good. You can opt for a backyard or rooftop dance arrangement. Try to stick your playlist to the theme and even encourage costumes. Create an ambience using lots of bright lights and glitter, irrespective of the theme.

Set Up a Photo Booth

When planning a graduation party, you cannot forget a photo booth that will let the millennials click Instagram-worthy pictures. Set up a simple grad photo booth. Put up a few funny and trendy props and signs that will make the grads have loads of fun striking a pose with. If setting up a photo booth is a lot of work for you, you can set up a photo-taking backdrop with balloons, streamers, fairy lights and cutouts (Class of 2022).

Party Favours with Personalised Tags

Handing out party favours is a sweet and thoughtful way to express thanks to your guests and something that will become a great souvenir. Add a touch of personalisation to your party favours and make them even more special. You can add text, quotes and photos to the graduation gifts and every time the grads look at it, it will bring back sweet memories. You can also hang a bulletin/blackboard and let the grads write down their favourite recollection. Later, print out its photo and hand it to everyone.

Food & Drinks

Most high school grads are not old enough to drink but that shouldn’t stop them from hitting the bar. Set up different bars such as taco bars, cheese bars, latte bars, ice cream bars, popcorn bars, chips n dips bars, etc. You can also set up a buffet with all kinds of snacks and refreshments. For dessert, don’t forget cakes or cupcakes. There are various online bakeries that let you order customised cupcakes and cakes in Dubai online.

Memorabilia Display

Display his or her achievements – academics or non-academics – with a memorabilia station. Put up all the pictures or articles published (if any). This will leave them feeling all nostalgic and pumped up for what lies ahead. It will also motivate them for they will see a run-through of their past accomplishments.

If you want to make your party memorable for years, you will need great party games. Bingo, Pictionary, Never have I ever, Twister, Musical chairs, Tug of war or the human version of tic tac toe – there are a ton of party games that are sure to be the hit of your graduation celebration. To make it more exciting, hand out gifts in the end. Here are some thoughtful high school graduation gift ideas. You can always get online gift delivery in Dubai and save time.

4 Ways To Select Art + Objects for a Gallery Art Wall Like Chrissy Tiegen — decor8

4 Ways To Select Art + Objects for a Gallery Art Wall Like Chrissy Tiegen — decor8 2022 Best Chandeliers And Home Lighting in Dubai, UAE - Homenoon

Hi friends, let’s talk about gallery art walls because they are still alive and well, which I didn’t really realize until I saw this post from Chrissy Teigen on Insta lately and how it literally broke the internet in decor land because everyone wanted to know how to have a gallery wall like hers. This made me think that I shouldn’t assume that everyone naturally knows how to create a gallery art wall, so I thought to do a two part series to help those of you who need it. Before I post about how to Plan and Install a Gallery Style Art Wall in 8 Steps, I want to share below how to select art and objects first because there is no need to get into installation tips and ideas until you have your art and other objects selected, or at least, have a clue as to the visual direction you want to take this.

Here are 4 steps to select art and objects for your gallery art wall:

1/ Pick art and objects with a set theme or vibe

Think of your room colors and overall vibe, your style, the theme. Maybe you want to showcase your love of travel or your son’s school art mixed in with modern art and your ceramic dish collection. Perhaps it’s black and white photography you’ve been collecting for years or your love of abstract shapes and vibrant color. Whatever it is, try to find the red thread that goes through each piece which connects them in some way. Even if only YOU see the connection, that’s okay, but there needs to be some meaning to you on an emotional level because that is why we display things on our wall in the first place right? Because we’ve emotionally made some connection to it – we like it – whether that be the color, mood, subject matter, whatever… It evokes emotion and that’s good. In addition to emotion, the work as a whole should connect somehow visually. Does it make some sense or tell a story or is everything its own focal point and together, the story becomes terribly muddy or chaotic even (and not in a good way)? Art and objects that don’t fit together shouldn’t be displayed together.

2/ Mix art with with dimensional pieces

Art prints, paintings, kids’ artwork, Polaroids, photographs, drawings, sketches, personal photos of a family trip, and dimensional objects like mirrors, dishes, bowls, masks, wicker, baskets, a dried palm leaf, textile art, macrame, if it can be nailed to a wall, it can be considered! 🙂 Mix up the display – art and objects – and include what fits the story behind this wall of art that you’re creating.

3/ Decide on frames and mattes

I’m not that bold with mixing frame styles, but perhaps you are. I like to stick to a few colors (white and natural wood) then throw in a few colored frames or black or something with a clean slim gold frame, as an accent. You do you. Maybe you want all black frames or only white. Or you want all of the frames to be in a different color of the rainbow, or only pink. But whatever you decide, decide! Also decide on mattes. I believe that all mattes should be the same color on gallery style walls just for the sake of unifying the overall arrangement, especially if you are mixing and matching frame colors, but then you’ll sometimes see a wall that breaks every design rule and it works beautifully. Yet, I tend to think those walls are done by the extremely stylish out there who effortlessly turn horses into unicorns, so who knows – if you have that magic – do it!

Tour This Charming French Country Home in the Loire Valley — decor8

Tour This Charming French Country Home in the Loire Valley — decor8 2022 Best Chandeliers And Home Lighting in Dubai, UAE - Homenoon

First, let’s discuss their decor style, which they describe as Simple and Organic. They love raw, natural materials but also Naïa adores architecture, particularly the greats like Mies Van Der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Eames along with the photographs of Julius Schulmann, though she admits to also having a soft spot for little English cottages, and of course old French homes and cute farms.

When they lived in Amsterdam, they had a very minimalist “Japandi Modern” interior with clean lines. It served them well at the time, but like many of us, decor evolves as our life does, so their move to France brought them a fresh new perspective on living. In Amsterdam, they also had handmade pieces, but much more sparingly, and their previous color palette was quite similar: neutral tones, wood, white, but now they admit to slowly beginning to explore color and that their handmade and vintage collections have grown exponentially.

When it comes to decoration, they’ve learned to embrace the characteristics of their 1783 house with its old beams, wooden floors, marble chimney, crooked floors and walls, and their many moldings because it gives the property character. They also like that though their home is old, the rooms are large and the layout is well thought-out and functional. This isn’t always the case in older properties, for instance, I have a 220m2 floor-through circa 1901 Jugendstil apartment here in Germany and the layout is absolutely not suited for modern living, the kitchen and baths are the smallest rooms in the house, and my massive bedroom is larger than even my dining room. As I look at Naïa’s home from the late 1700s, I can’t help but think of how she clearly struck gold with the overall size and functional layout that works for modern living 239 years after it was first planned out and built. That’s rather interesting, isn’t it?

Here are some views first of their living room which is admittedly very neutral but not at all boring since there are many lovely layers and interesting objects to look at. I particularly like the black mantle above the fireplace. I had to ask her where she shops for the home and she gave us a few of her favorite links at the moment, in case you’re curious: Smallable, Anthropologie, Made, and The Cool Republic.

15 Tips for How to Organize Your Garage

Most garage designs offer around 500 square feet of space. Not unlike many homeowners, you have most likely faced obstacles when it comes to keeping this large storage space under control and organized.

You may not be able to work a professional organizer into your budget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience a garage with complete organization systems. Here are 15 tips to organize your garage from the ground up!

1. Create a showroom-style garage, starting with new garage flooring.

If you aren’t completely confident that you can do the installation yourself or you are too busy to complete new flooring yourself, hiring a professional is the route to go!

New innovative garage floor materials are much more maintainable than traditional concrete flooring and easier to clean.

2. Use your lids!

Keep your nuts, bolts, screws and other small objects organized and within easy reach. Install plastic lids to the bottom of a shelf, then just screw the jars on and off for easy access.

3. Clear view makes it easy for you.

What!? You don’t have x-ray vision?! Clear labeled tubs (like those below, from Frazzled Joy) can solve your searching problem quick! Use this calculator to check your garage measurements.

4. Stretch, hook and voila! Instant storage!

Stretch bungee cords from the floor to 2x4s attached to the wall to make a frame and store all your sports equipment!

5. Upcycle your gutters for garage organization!

Old gutters can be recycled into a garage storage solution! Install them up high in the garage to hold spray paint and cleaning products to keep out of reach of the kids. (Here are more tips to organize a house if you have kids.)

6. Closed doors can keep your belongings safe and out of sight!

Custom garage companies can install floating garage cabinets that are easy to clean underneath and protect your belongings from pests and water damage. If you decide to install the cabinets yourself, remember to provide a strong anchor, so you can protect from a possible fall!

7. Pegboards can hold a plethora of items!

Utilize a pegboard to store your hand tools on the wall and off the garage floor! You can install a single pegboard or you can get innovative and make pegboard pages for multiple storage solutions! What a great use of space! Find more cool pegboard ideas here!

8. Don’t walk under an open ladder or prop it against the wall.

A ladder propped up against a wall is not safe storage. The ladder can fall and cause injury or property damage. As an alternative way to store your ladder, suspend it on sturdy hooks that are part of a wall attachment system or hang it from your ceiling!

hanging-ladder-family-handyman

9.Off the floor and on the wall seating.

Okay, so you can’t actually sit on the wall, but you can hang up your folding chairs, lawn chairs, etc. on the wall! You most likely have extra chairs stuffed in the corner of your garage. With a magnetic strip you can attach to the wall, chairs are easy to hang up and pull down when you need them!

chair-storage-family-handyman

10. Hang a magnetic strip.

Keep tiny items in place with a magnetic wall strip. You can hang it horizontally or vertically, depending on your storage needs.

magnetic-strip-storage-lushome

11. Everything has a place and there is a place for everything!

Find the exact place you want your tools and trace around the outer edges. This will help keep you and anyone working in the garage organized by reminding you where to put tools away.

12. Are you a biker? You need a bike rack!

Overhead bike racks are stylish, functional and sturdy so you can keep your bike hanging high and off the garage floor! Utilizing a bike storage rack is a fantastic way to remind yourself to hop on and cruise!

hanging-bike-rack-safe-racks

13. Keep your chin up.

Overhead storage is another great way to make the most of your garage’s available space. Take a look at this system for attaching bins to the ceiling.

14. Get on a roll with this unique trick.

Put up a simple paper towel holder, and your bags will be where you need them every time.

15. Get it all off the floor.

Don’t risk ruining your pristine chip flooring. Get your items off the floor with garage wall racks!

Don’t set limits upon your garage storage. From floor to ceiling, you have plenty of options to achieve complete organization. Just get creative! Check out some more DIY ideas for the garage here.

I love the muted deep green color of these laundry room cabinets!

The stacked washer and dryer also free up space for a very ample amount of storage and a nice length of countertop in a small laundry room, too.

Laundry Room Idea #11: Add a TV

Large Laundry Room With Wood Cabinets and TV

This framed TV is so unobtrusive, and perfect for folding laundry or working on other projects at the table in this dreamy large laundry room! (I’ve got a crush on that chandelier, too — found a similar one here.)

No space for a TV? Use an easy DIY tablet stand to hold your phone or tablet in whatever space you’re folding laundry.

If a room feels lifeless, adding something living helps! Greenery and plants don’t actually have to require watering to add to the aesthetic, though 😉

This classic black and white room with wood floors (or luxury vinyl plank that looks like wood) maintains a comfortable and homey farmhouse feel with a few baskets and plants for decor.

This laundry room has so much going for it! The custom cabinetry built in around the stacked machines gives so much space, and then the sink vanity details, the hanging light fixture… I could go on  and on.

A roman shade is also a great pick for a laundry room window, since it looks great while raised or lowered. You can even make your own roman shade or hack a set of cheap mini blinds.
