The UAE’s Royal family pays tribute to Prince Philip – Emirates Woman – Things To Do in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has shared his condolences to Queen Elizabeth II following the death of her husband Prince Philip.

The Duke of Edinburgh was 99-years-old.

Sheikh Mohammed shared a statement on behalf of the UAE following Prince Philip’s death.

“On behalf of people of UAE, I extend my sincere condolences to Queen Elizabeth II & the people of United Kingdom over the demise of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” he said.

“A close friend to the UAE & other nations, he will always be remembered for his devotion to his country and people.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces also paid his tribute to the Royal Family by sharing his heartfelt condolences after the official announcement was made earlier today.

He shared a statement on Twitter that read “My deepest condolences to HM Queen Elizabeth II, HRH Prince Charles, the Royal Family, and the British people on the passing of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. May you be blessed with comfort and solace during these difficult times.”

The news was announced by the palace with a statement on behalf of the British monarch.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement read.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

It was also stated that other announcements surrounding his funeral would be made “in due course”.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss,” the statement finished.

Following his death, the official website of the British Royal Family has been made “temporarily unavailable while appropriate changes are made”.

Prince Philip, who was born in Greece in 1921, was due to turn 100 in June.

He wed the Queen – then Princess Elizabeth – on 10 July 1947. The pair celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary last year.

Just four years after they wed, Princess Elizabeth became Queen after her father King George VI passed away aged 56.

The couple had four children together – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
