Are you as excited as we are that Chip and Joanna of Fixer Upper are back at it!? Today we’re going to discuss one of our favorite rooms in The Cargo Ship House: the kitchen. The kitchen in The Cargo Ship House immediately captured our attention! We love a white kitchen, but when you add in navy and natural wood accents, it brings the space to a whole new level.
It’s hard to believe the kitchen once looked like this:

The range hood and those gorgeous lanterns first draw your eyes in when entering the space. We love the cottage elements that combine with a French twist!
The unique crate-style drawers near the sink add a rustic, charming vibe to an otherwise polished kitchen.
The entire space exudes warmth and charm!
If you love this look, as well, but don’t know where to start in your own home, we’ve outlined some tips and sources below to get you started! We’ve found some nearly identical items (and some are the exact ones) from this kitchen so you can recreate the look in your own home!
LIGHT, NEUTRAL FOUNDATION
The foundation of this room is fairly white and bright. Start with light, neutral walls along with white cabinets and white or light gray counter tops. For the wall color, we’d recommend Benjamin Moore Pale Oak or something similar. The marble backsplash adds character through the trellis pattern.
ADD A RICH, MOODY COLOR
The navy cabinets and vent hood add, not only a punch of personality, but also helped ground the space. We’d recommend Benjamin Moore Hale Navy for a true navy color, or Benjamin Moore Newburg Green for a navy with green undertones.
LAYER IN WARM ELEMENTS
To counter the cold feeling of white cabinets and marble and white solid surfaces, you will want to layer in warm wood tones. Elements like the rich hardwood floors, rustic wood beams, wood decorative accents and wood and linen bar stools help make the space feel warm and cozy. We found some close matches to the chairs in The Cargo Ship kitchen, but also some are expensive. We’ve sourced many other more affordable options below!
