The only thing better than my favorite chocolate chip cookies from Southampton’s own Tate’s Bake Shop is the fact that we recently launched an exclusive collaboration with them at our just-opened flagship retail location Kathy Kuo Home Southampton!

For me, Tate’s was a natural fit for a brand partnership at our new store not only because I genuinely *love* their cookies, but because the Bake Shop is such a Southampton institution and such a beacon of success for local businesses out East. And like KKH, Tate’s is also woman-founded! It’s really a match made in heaven!

Tell us a bit about Tate’s Bake Shop’s history in Southampton!

It all started when Kathleen King, founder of Tate’s Bake Shop, began baking when she was just eleven years old, selling small batches of her crisp, buttery chocolate chip cookies off of a fold-out card table on North Sea Farm, her parents’ Long Island farmstead.
In 1980, when she was only 21, Kathleen rented a space her mother spotted and opened her first bake shop. She developed a full line of traditional American baked goods, perfecting every recipe herself and baking each dessert from scratch. Named after her father, Tate’s Bake Shop is the result of Kathleen’s love of baking and keen eye for quality.
Tate’s Bake Shop has been Voted the Best Bakery in the Hamptons year over year, and is a destination for locals and tourists alike. A visit to the Bake Shop reveals Kathleen’s personality is in every inch of the store, from the fresh flowers to the carved wooden tables.

While Tate’s is no longer owned by Kathleen King, we continue to bring her entrepreneurial spirit to the business, and let it guide everything we do. We strive to give everyone a little bit of the Bake Shop in every bite.
Are there any summer entertaining tips you could share for anyone planning get-togethers (and planning to serve Tate’s Cookies, of course)?
Summer is the perfect time for entertaining. We recently discovered making s’mores using Tate’s chocolate chip cookies. The cookies’ crispy consistency make them a scrumptious graham cracker replacement. Another special summer treat is setting up a DIY ice cream sandwich bar using Tate’s cookies. An elaborate arrangement including various cookie flavors, ice cream options and topping choices is guaranteed to be a hit when entertaining.
Also, we have taken our signature crispy chocolate chip cookies and have created a smaller, bite-size version. Tiny Tate’s are available in single serve packages, making them the perfect product to tuck into your beach bag, a lunch box, workout bag, or briefcase. We also suggest putting them in a bowl with milk, for a delectable dessert.
