Hi cuties–greetings from the East End! As you know, my team and I have been super-busy with our recently-launched flagship store location out here in my second-home of Southampton on Long Island. I’ve spent summers out here for years and throughout it all, one of my favorite things about being here is connecting with like-minded individuals who also feel connected to the magic of this special place.
I recently had the chance to work with the oh-so-lovely blogger and mom-of-three Brianne Manz of Stroller in the City! on her family’s new second home here in Southampton.
We actually featured Brianne on our blog as part of our Kuotable Women series in 2020, and I was thrilled to re-connect with her and work with her on making her SH house a home over this past summer. Read on to learn more about Stroller in the City and Brianne’s coastal-chic Hamptons home! You can check out a video reveal from Brianne below!
“I loved working with Kathy Kuo Home to realize my beach house dreams! I’ve always been drawn to light and warm colors with a French Country feel. The Hamptons have always been my most happiest place ever, and seriously this has been a dream come true for me.” –Brianne Manz

Tell us about the journey that led your family to your new home in Southampton!
My husband Jason and I have always dreamed of owning a home in the Hamptons. It’s where we met years ago and where so many of our cherished memories were created. We even gave our daughter Siella the middle name Harbor in honor of Sag Harbor.
The pandemic really pushed us to make the jump. We will always love living in NYC, but having a second home in Southampton allows for a healthy escape, space, and extra joy!
What drew you to Southampton? Were there certain factors you were really looking for in terms of location and type of house?
I love the conveniences of Southampton in relation to the City. It’s not as far east as some of the other towns in the Hamptons. We’ve been renting out here for years, and always seem to gravitate towards Southampton, so we pretty much focused on this area. Our particular home checked all the boxes. An individual room for all our kids, extra space for guests, a pool, and proximity to the beach. It’s truly a forever home!

Tell us about some of your favorite KKH pieces in your new home.
My living room and dining room are my most favorite rooms in the house. I think it’s hard to pick just one favorite piece, but I would say it’s definitely both chandeliers the KKH team chose for me. Each one makes a huge statement in each room, and definitely the most talked about pieces when guests visit.
There’s something so romantic about French aesthetics, and KKH was a great place for me to find dream pieces–and the result is a home that is very French Country meets Coastal Beach.
What has been your favorite part of the design process, and on the flip side, what were some of the challenges?
I’ve really enjoyed the whole process! This is our first home, so I really wanted to keep a playful and fun mindset around it. Furnishing a home can be a big task, but I just kept thinking of all the memories that will be made in this new home. I think the only real challenge was that COVID was really affecting shipping delays. Which, in retrospect, is such a small issue considering the state of the world and the tragedies many have faced worldwide.

You’re a mom-of-three–what were some of the considerations you kept in mind in making sure your home was kid-friendly but still chic? Did you seek your children’s input when selecting pieces?
I definitely worked with my children in designing their rooms. We have some strong opinions in our family and I knew consulting them would be very helpful in creating spaces they love. But when it comes to the common areas, that was my personal passion project.
I had free reign on design and it’s been so much fun bringing it all together. I did, however, tell the KKH team when choosing two couches for our living room that I wanted high performance fabrics, and luckily (I’m knocking on wood right now) they’ve been to be holding up the test so far!
Do you have any advice for city families considering a move to the Hamptons in wake of the crazy year we’ve just gone through?
Do it! It’s an amazing place to invest and spend your time. Whether it be in the summer peak season or even in the winters, just having somewhere to decompress outside of the City really brings so much worth into our lives.
I will say though, the buying market was so tough and we had a bunch of homes fall through, but this one in particular I just knew it was our home. There were 13 other offers on it, and I decided to write a letter to the owner from the heart, and I think my letter helped us score the winning bid!
