Ever seen a runway presentation so ethereal? Well, then Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection was not one to be missed.
Presented against the backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower, the brand’s muses were adorned in the finest Saint Laurent pieces at this in-person fashion show in Paris.
Seen in Anthony Vaccarello’s light of life post lockdown, the French Maison presented an immaculate show with meticulous tailoring and oversized jackets paying homage to vintage fashion.
Delving into YSL’s archive, we couldn’t help but notice the figure-hugging jumpsuits from the ’80s and sharply crafted eveningwear made to perfection.
The accessories played a key component in presenting standout looks. From chunky statement jewellery pieces to lacquered envelope pouches, each model presents standout party-ready looks in a completely new light.
At the helm of the collection lies Paloma Picasso. Her free-spirited nature and nonchalance became a turning point in the courtier’s take on the luxury house. By closely embodying her presence through the collection, her palpable influence was seen on the runway.
“For a long time, I wanted to transpose this meeting between Paloma Picasso and Yves Saint Laurent, whose importance few realize in the designer’s creative journey,” Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent’s Creative Director, said. “It is a moment to which I am sensitive as a designer because for me it is the defining moment when Saint Laurent’s fashion creativity became a style.”
This postcard-perfect scene ended with a wall of strobe lights, which erupted into a waterfall for the finale, sprinkling the front-row guests with water and a lot more to take in after the show.
