Dubai bars reopen for vaccinated residents, brunches can resume – Things To Do in Dubai

Restaurants can now seat 10 to one table and hotels can operate at 100 per cent capacity…

The rules surrounding live entertainment, events, weddings, hotels, restaurants and concerts have eased in Dubai. Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has updated the precautionary measures for events and activities on a one-month trial basis as of Monday May 17.

Outlined within the update are several notices, beginning with a reminder that physical distancing of two metres and the wearing of masks remain mandatory.

Weddings are allowed with a maximum attendance of 100 guests at hotels and venues, provided that all attendees and staff are vaccinated. Wedding events at home are capped at 30 guests, and precautionary measures must be followed.

Entertainment venues are permitted to increase their capacity to 70 per cent, and hotels are allowed to offer their full capacity now, increasing from 80 to 100 per cent.

Live entertainment will be allowed in restaurants, cafes and malls for a one-month extendable trial period starting today, May 17.

According to Dubai Media Office, ‘restaurants are allowed to resume brunches with strict observance of updated precautionary measures outlined by authorities’.

Bars will be permitted to reopen, ‘provided all customers and staff have received the Covid-19 vaccine’. The latest precautionary measures must be stringently observed, as required under the permit type.

In terms of concerts and social events, permits will be given to host such things on the condition that all participants and attendees have been vaccinated.

Fans and spectators will also be able to attend sports events provided all attendees, participants and staff have received a vaccine. The attendance capacity for these permitted events should not exceed 70 per cent. The maximum attendance allowed is 1,500 people for indoor events and 2,500 people for outdoor events.

Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management stressed the need to adhere to the updated precautionary measures. Inspections will be carried out by the authorities to ensure compliance with the measures, and violators will face stiff penalties.
